This fictional biography of a Galician healer provides an insight into the relationship of those people with the population and with the civil and religious authorities. It also helps to approach the use of herbs and mushrooms, both for curative and magical purposes, in the cryptic and undervalued world of the Galician meigas.

Brief biography of the author of A SAGA DAS CURANDEIRAS book:
Marisa Castro Cerdeda (Lugo 1955), is a member of a saga of healers, until the age of 25 she was a farmer like her parents. She was lucky enough to go to university, and she let it pass through her.
She is a mycologist, with a doctorate in biological sciences with a work related to mushrooms, and for more than 30 years she was a professor at the University of Vigo, where she taught botany and directed almost a dozen doctoral theses. She is a founding partner of the company MycoGalicia Plantae, with members of her research team.
Her first profession is that of a teacher, her second, without a doubt, that of a science communicator.
Marisa is an ecologist, nature lover and defender of women’s freedom, especially in the figure of Galician rural women.
She is the author of more than a hundred research works and more than 25 popular science books related to mushrooms, plants and trees. A SAGA DAS CURANDEIRAS is her first novel.
