Brief biography of the author of A SAGA DAS CURANDEIRAS book:
Marisa Castro Cerdeda (Lugo 1955), is a member of a saga of healers, until the age of 25 she was a farmer like her parents. She was lucky enough to go to university, and she let it pass through her.
She is a mycologist, with a doctorate in biological sciences with a work related to mushrooms, and for more than 30 years she was a professor at the University of Vigo, where she taught botany and directed almost a dozen doctoral theses. She is a founding partner of the company MycoGalicia Plantae, with members of her research team.
Her first profession is that of a teacher, her second, without a doubt, that of a science communicator.
Marisa is an ecologist, nature lover and defender of women’s freedom, especially in the figure of Galician rural women.
She is the author of more than a hundred research works and more than 25 popular science books related to mushrooms, plants and trees. A SAGA DAS CURANDEIRAS is her first novel.
